Maui Deaf Friends in Hale 216 @ 10:30
Will discuss their support group that does social outings, monthly meetings, how they are involved with the Lions Club as volunteers, Mr. & Mrs. Deaf Santa activity, and the ASL Class through MILC – MEO. They will also have on display their crafts that they make and sell to raise money. They receive no funding except fund raising and private donations. They have limited items and if anyone is interested to purchase they can contact them directly and purchase at one of their meetings.
Buster Medeiros in Hale 216 @ 12pm
A St. Louis high school athlete who after a helmet to helmet collision playing football resulted in him suffering a C4/5 spinal cord injury which left him a quadriplegic, paralyzed from the neck down.
Buster will share his inspiring story of overcoming his disability through his life journey and how painting became the center of his life with the help of the love of his life. “It was almost as if painting was becoming second nature to me,” he says. “The result, without my even being aware of it, was that I was beginning to develop a unique style of my own. Maui Wheelers in Hale 216 @ 1:30pm
Spinal & Neurological support group. – will share about their support group monthly meetings and how they support each other. Will share stories about themselves.
All presentations will be held at the Hui No Ke Ola Pono 2nd Annual ‘Aha Mauliola on Saturday, August 10th from 10 am – 3 pm at The University of Hawaii Maui College Campus.
